About this notebook
No two the same. Ever.

The Ranger is a trifold cover with a raw natural edge. Cut from the hide and left exactly as it came -- the variation in colour, texture, and shape is not a flaw. No two are identical. The one you receive is the only one like it in the world.

The closure is a long leather strap that winds around and ties off. It takes a moment to open. That moment is the point. This is the notebook you reach for when you want to arrive at the page, not just open it.

Available in A6, A5, and A4. The leather darkens. The edges soften. The strap breaks in.

Initials pressed into the outside wrap flap using a traditional hot embossing machine -- a method unchanged since the 1880s. On the Ranger, with its raw edges and honest variation, embossing doesn't feel like decoration. It feels like marking territory.

01
RAW EDGE. NO APOLOGY.
The hide comes with variation built in. Jess cuts to it rather than away from it. The raw edge you receive is exactly what the leather decided to be. That is not a workaround. That is the craft.
02
THE STRAP IS THE RITUAL
A long leather strap. You wind it, you tie it. Intentional to open. The extra five seconds it takes is not a flaw in the design -- it is the design. Some things should require a small act of intention before they begin.
03
FOR THE PERSON WHO NOTICES THE DIFFERENCE
There is a difference between something made and something manufactured. If you notice it -- in objects, in materials, in the way something sits in your hand -- this is yours.
04
YOU NEVER HAVE TO GIVE THIS ONE UP
The strap breaks in. The leather darkens. The raw edges soften to a colour that is entirely this notebook's own. Each insert holds 60 pages. When one fills, slide it out, slot a new one in -- keep the elastics balanced and build it as thick as your work demands. The rest of it just keeps getting better.

THE LAST THING THAT HAPPENS
After the cutting and the stitching, one step remains. The notebook goes under the press and comes out carrying someone's initials. It is the final act of the making, and the moment it stops being ours and becomes yours.

What people say
Real people. Real leather. Real use.
The leather smell hit me the moment I opened the box. Three months in and it's already mine in a way I didn't expect. It goes everywhere. I haven't used a different notebook since.
Sarah M, Melbourne
The Curator -- Ochre -- A5 -- November 2025
Bought this for my husband's 60th. The initials on the front were the detail that got him. He opened it very slowly, which doesn't happen often. Couldn't have been more right.
Wendy K, Adelaide
The Curator -- Blacksmith -- A5 -- October 2025
I was looking for something I wouldn't have to replace. I've had this eight months and I can already see how it's going to look in five years. That's a good feeling.
James D, Brisbane
The Curator -- Worn Saddle -- A5 -- April 2025
I came back for The Curator after The Scribe. The sleeve system makes sense once you're using it daily. Jess was wonderful to deal with -- a genuine response from a real person.
Bianca T, Sydney
The Curator -- Inkwell -- A4 -- February 2026
No two the same. That's the whole point.

Add The Ranger
A note from Jess
Every Ranger leaves the bench looking different, because I cut to the hide instead of away from it. The raw edge and the strap ask for a small moment of intention before you start -- that is the design, not a quirk. If you like objects with character, this one has more of it than anything else in the range.
